Fudgey Brownies
Now who is up for some really fudgey brownies dear cookers?
This is what Easter baking is all about!
I love these brownies and so do my kids!
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups (300 mL) all purpose flour
1 tsp (5 mL) baking powder
1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
3/4 cup (175 mL) butter or margarine
3/4 cup (175 mL) cocoa powder
1 cup (250 mL) packed brown sugar
1 cup (250 mL) white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp (10 mL) vanilla
1 cup (250 mL) chopped walnuts
cooking spray
Fudgey Icing
2 tbsp (30 mL) butter
1/4 cup (50 mL) cocoa powder
1/2 tsp (2 mL) vanilla
2 cups (500 mL) sifted icing sugar
1/4 cup (50 mL) milk
Directions
Preheat oven to 180C
Blend together flour, baking powder and salt and set aside. Melt butter over low heat in a large saucepan and remove from heat. Stir in cocoa then beat in brown sugar, white sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients and walnuts.
Spray a 9 inch square pan (23 cm) with cooking spray and spread batter in pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. Do not over bake. Cool completely. Spread Fudgey Icing over top.
Prepare Fudgey Icing
Melt butter over low heat in a medium saucepan and remove from heat. Stir in cocoa and vanilla. Stir in icing sugar and milk until smooth and of spreading consistency. Cool for 2 minutes before spreading.
